The TEC Fog Puffer™ Kit from The Energy Conservatory is designed for weatherization, home performance, energy auditing, and other building-performance professionals who need a practical way to locate air leaks.

Originally developed by Gary Nelson, the Fog Puffer™ provides a controlled source of visible fog that can be used to trace air movement and help identify leakage paths in residential buildings.

The Fog Puffer™ uses Propylene Glycol (PG) to create the fog and is designed to consistently deliver the small amount needed for common residential air-leak diagnostics.

How It Works

Fill a cartridge with the supplied Propylene Glycol, attach the cartridge to a charged battery, and install the assembly into the modified baster. A puff from the baster activates the Fog Puffer™ and produces visible fog that can be released near a suspected leakage area.

When used during building-pressure diagnostics, watch how the fog moves to help identify where air is entering or leaving the structure.

Rechargeable & Refillable

The Fog Puffer™ includes two rechargeable batteries and a USB charger. TEC states that the batteries typically take approximately 2 hours to fully charge. The charger indicator turns green when charging is complete.

The cartridges are refillable. Simply use the included small dropper bottle to transfer Propylene Glycol into the cartridge reservoir, reinstall the cartridge end piece, and reassemble the Fog Puffer™.
